WHY STUDY AT ACTION IN ENGLISH
The Action in English curriculum was designed by Master-level ESL
teachers with years of classroom experience.
We provide trainees:
Practical techniques for developing a good classroom atmosphere
and teaching the four basic skills: listening, speaking, reading,
and writing. In addition, the course also includes a review of basic
grammatical terms and practical grammar teaching techniques. We
include not only knowledge of good ice-breaking activities, but
also many different activities that can be used in the classroom
to facilitate learning.
Extensive experience in classroom observation. Second to teaching,
observing excellent teachers is the best way for anyone to learn
to teach. All Action in English students observe select ESL classes
at the Olin Center and other affiliated schools.
Practice preparing lessons. Trainers teach Action in English students
to prepare and revise lessons according to the identified needs
of the ESL classes.
Teaching experience. Participants in the Action in English Certificate
Program begin peer teaching in the second day of class. By the completion
of the course, students teach actual ESL students, using lesson
plans they have created.

also help students to conduct internet research and to assess the
quality of jobs currently listed. We offer free workshops during
which students participate in videotaped mock interviews which are
reviewed and critiqued with your peers. Finally, the Olin Center
receives job postings from overseas on a regular basis and makes
these available to graduates. Your certificate from Action in English
qualifies you to apply for many of the positions listed in our resource
