Why EC Boston for TEFL?

Your first question may be whether you really need a TEFL Certificate. While it is sometimes possible to obtain a position without a teaching certificate, especially in areas of the world where English speakers are rare. It is increasingly difficult in many countries, though, to obtain any job, especially a good one, without some objective proof of your qualifications. Many positions require a TEFL certificate. In addition, a teacher training course will help to make you feel both prepared for your position as well as equipped with the necessary tools to grow as an English teaching professional.

Once you decide to pursue a TEFL Certificate, you will need to decide from whom to obtain the certificate! Choosing EC Boston as your provider can really set you apart from others with a TEFL certificate from another school. Here are some reasons to choose EC Boston for your TEFL Certificate program.

Reputation & Reach of the Training School:

Through EC?s positioning as an award-winning, world-wide company, EC Boston?s TEFL program can provide you with a larger range of expert and respected connections than any other TEFL provider in Boston. EC English trains every age range and type of English learner for every purpose and has been doing so since 1992. Additionally, our program is accredited by Accrediting Council for Continuing Education and Training (ACCET) and is recognized world-wide.

High Expectations & Strict Standards:

In addition to maintaining the highest expectations and standards of our instructors, EC Boston is also careful to make sure that all admitted students are ready for the demands of the course. We want to ensure the best classroom experience possible for all students and therefore insist on complete preparation for and participation in the program. When you graduate with an EC Boston TEFL certificate, it will really mean something!

Current Materials:

EC Boston?s TEFL certificate program uses the most up-to-date and comprehensive course materials and provides access to the best in additional resources. All materials are included in the course price.

Qualifications & Experience of the Instructors:

The teachers in EC Boston's TEFL Teacher Training Boston program are masters-level, highly qualified teachers of English as a Second/Foreign Language. All have training in both language learning theory and pedagogy. Many teachers have worked both in the U.S. and overseas and all have years of experience with students of all ability-levels. They undergo constant professional development.

Practice Teaching Time and Feedback - Class Size:

Becoming a good teacher means that you must have lots of practice, feedback and opportunity for observation. Students in our course spend at least 3 hours outside of the class in observation of actual ESL classes (some at EC Boston), several hours in peer teaching, and at least 6 hours in a teaching practicum in which they teach real ESL students.

Now, with all the practice and observation, you need feedback and guidance to really analyze your weaknesses and improve your teaching. This is where class size becomes important. All classes have twelve students or fewer in them. This allows for personal attention from the trainers and facilitates more discussion among classmates.

Job Search Support:

During the course, trainees are not only given extensive opportunities to connect with TEFL program alumni, EC teaching professionals world-wide, and internationals students, they are also given 1-1 job research counseling, resume help and mock interview practice. After graduation, students can always access further assistance like review of prospective job contracts and listings of new job leads.

Located in Boston's historic Back Bay, we are just minutes away from Harvard Square and many area universities including Harvard and MIT.
